2014 NFL Mock Draft
The best player in the draft does not go first overall in this mock draft….
1) Jacksonville Jaguars – Teddy Bridgewater QB, Louisville
The Jag’s need help everywhere so may as well go with the #1 position & best option available. In 2013 he has a 72% completion rate, 20 td’s & 2 int’s. Good arm strength & accurate. Mobile on roll outs & has poise in the pocket. The Jag’s need a franchise QB & he’s the man. 6’3" 218 lbs.
2) Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Marcus Mariota QB, Oregon
Has 62% completion rate, 2051 yards, 19 td’s & 0 int’s in 2013 after 7 games. Also has run for 558 yds & 9 td’s. Beats you w/ arm & legs. Went 96 yds for td vs Washington St. Piles up the points since becoming starting QB. A passer who can do it all. With a strong finish could go #1. 6’4" 214 lbs. The Bucs are probably going to fire Schiano/Dominik this year or very soon. The fan base is in an uproar.
3) Houston Texans – Anthony Barr OLB, UCLA
Started the season w/ monster game vs Nebraska. Had 11 tackles & 3 forced fumbles. So far in 2013 has 34 tackles, 11 TFL, 4 sacks & those 3 FF through 7 games. Has been having impact plays every game. Best blitz LB available. 6’4" 240 lbs.
4) St. Louis Rams – Louis Nix DT, Notre Dame
Has 22 tackles, 2 TFL in 2013. The Rams need a partner for Michael Brockers. With Brockers & Nix it would be tough sleddin’ up the middle against the Rams for several years. Nix causes havoc in backfield & is disruptive at point of attack. A big difference maker. I’m moving the Rams up here do to their poor QB situation. They will be lucky to win another game. 6’3" 340 lbs. Also I’ve seen a lot of mocks w/ them taking Matthews or Lewan here but this will be HC Jeff Fisher’s 20th NFL draft & he’s never gone OL in the 1st round. Also look for Fisher/Snead to trade this pick down for multiple selections as they’ve done the last 2 years.
5) New York Giants – Jake Matthews OT, Texas A&M
The G-men need OL, LB & secondary first. They decide to get some quality protection for Eli. 4 year starter @ A&M. Should be 1st team All America . Solid all year in pass protection & run blocking. Best OT available. Not the biggest but the best. Great bloodlines through his HOF father Bruce Matthews. Eli says thank you. 6’5" 305 lbs.
