Steve Slaton: 2008 NFL Draft Prospect

This year WVU is having a pretty good year led by the same two guys from last year; Steve Slaton (5-10, 195) and Pat White.  Slaton is a very fast athletic running back that has been productive ever since his freshman year.  The positives about Slaton are not that he is a really good running back but that he is a really good athlete instead.  Slaton has shown that he can outrun pretty much anyone at the college level with his breakout speed.  Another thing that is good about Slaton is that he can both run and receive out of the backfield.  Slaton already has 13 touchdowns and 825 yards even though he is splitting carries with his QB Pat White.  Look for Slaton to go in the top two rounds of the draft this year due to his outstanding athleticism.  If he puts up some good numbers in the combine I would think he would make it into the first round.  When Slaton gets to the NFL I think that he will be more of a Reggie Bush type back because of his breakout speed and lack of size.  I think a really good fit for Slaton would be to the Dallas Cowboys because he is a speed back and he will compliment Marion Barber III well with this speed.  If Dallas drafted him they could have both Barber and Slaton on the field at  the same time because of there different abilities.
