Ray Rice: 2008 NFL Draft Updates

Ray Rice the Junior 5’9″ 205 lb back from Rutgers is having a pretty good year. Rice started out his rushing campaign as a freshman and he had 1,120 yards and 5 Td’s. Last year Rice stepped it up and had a HUGE year with almost 1,800 yards and 20 Td’s. This year Rice is still doing very well on the ground with 999 yds and 13 Td’s but he is showing his versatility by catching the ball out of the backfield. In his freshman and sophomore years combined he only had 12 catches for 95 yds, while this year he already has 17 catches for 175 yds and a TD. Rice is making himself a first round canindate by his strong running style and his new found ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. Along with this Rice is carrying a pretty heavy load (over 30 carries in his last 3 games) so far this season and his body is standing up to it well showing he is a very durable back as well. Rice is still a junior so if he decides to declare then he could easily be a first round pick because he is so versatile and shown such great ability. Another fact about Rice is that he came into Rutgers and took over Brian Leonards job and Leonard was made a fullback. Leonard is now on the Rams and is showing to be a pretty good halfback in the NFL. If Leonard lost the job to Rice I wonder what Rice could do in the NFL. Look for him to go from anywhere to mid first round to late second round. I think he would be a good fit in Dallas because he is a speedy back that has the ability to run over people and he could replace Jones. A few other possibilities are Houston, Seattle, and Arizona.
