Week 7 NFL Power Rankings
by Tyler Lurkins
1. Denver-Denver is rolling over teams. With a loss to Seattle already, the Ponies will need to top
the niners next week if they wish to stay on top.
2. Dallas-What? Dallas? The Cowboys have the best line in the NFL. The running game is
unstoppable. Their receivers are uncoverable. The D is playing sufficiently. It pains many to see
Dallas here, but right now they are hot.
3. Seattle-The loss to Dallas isn’t a fluke. This team can’t stop a strong run game. This team isn’t
using Harvin, and lack a true #1 receiver. However, Seattle remains a very dangerous unit.
4. San Diego-San Diego is a barely a one loss team now. The Chiefs will be a true test next week.
5. Green Bay-R-E-L-A-X. The O line looked very relaxed as Miami dominated up front. A win is a
win though
6. Detroit-Detroit is playing well, but still need to show toughness. Even without Graham, the
Saints will still be a dangerous threat.
7. Philadelphia-Consistency. The Eagles need it. A bye week will bring some needed rest and
planning.
8. Indianapolis-The D coughed up 28 points to Fitzpatrick. Luck keeps this team in any game
though.
9. Arizona-Palmer makes Fitzgerald relevant. The Raiders next week should be an easy win.
10. San Francisco-The Niners are on the move, but will face a massive roadblock in Denver next
week.
11. Cincinnati-Even with one loss (and a tie) the Bengals have not proven they can beat tough
teams. They’ll have a challenge going to Indy to face Luck and the Colts.
12. Kansas City-One of the better games of the week, the Chiefs travel to San Diego. The winner is
the likely favorite to finish 2nd
13. Baltimore-Baltimore took advantage of Tampa. Baltimore still doesn’t appear to be a complete
team. A win against the Falcons next week can get them moving north on these rankings.
behind Denver.
14. New England-Looking as wretched as they did in their first two losses, it’s hard to elevate the
Pats on the list. They’ll host the Jets and see a boost in the rankings next week.
15. Carolina-This team is so resilient and gritty. With little talent on the offense, they somehow find
ways to be competitive. It will be tough, but can the Panthers win in Green Bay next week?
16. Houston-Much like Carolina, Houston is a fun team to watch. They really need to take
advantage of a reeling Steeler team, in Pittsburgh, next week.
17. Cleveland-How about that Hoyer? The Browns are a tough team, but consistency is their biggest
enemy right now.
18. Chicago-The Bears really put in on the Falcons in week 6. The D still needs to prove themselves.
An angry Miami team will be a good matchup in week 7.
19. Buffalo-Buffalo gets lucky to face a weakened Vikings team at home. The team is really looking
solid, but still hasn’t pulled out the V.
20. New Orleans-The Saints better have the defense settled in. An offensive showdown awaits
them in Detroit.
21. Atlanta-What is with this team? The names are there, but the Falcons are so shaky.
22. Miami-Miami really held their own against the Pack. With a couple players from being very
good, the Fins will continue to troll in the mid, to latter part, of the rankings.
23. Pittsburgh-Youth and injuries are taking a toll in the Steel City. Until Haley gets this team to click
offensively, and the Steelers find a miracle defensively, this team dwells at the bottom.
24. Tampa Bay-Tampa seems to be clicking a bit better. The defensive players are learning their
roles. The Bucs could slowly maneuver their way to the middle of the rankings.
25. Tennessee-Did the Titans win outright, or did the Jags give them the game? With a QB down,
and few offensive weapons, the Titans won’t be a good team this year.
26. New York Giants-Manning is off and on. The Giants can’t begin to know which Manning they’ll
get from week to week. The G men are seeing some injuries, and really lack talent offensively.
27. Washington-It’s safe to say the Cousins isn’t the answer. Granted the team has little talent due
to zero draft picks the last three years, but the marquee names still need to step up.
28. Minnesota-Bridgewater isn’t the answer for the Vikings. This team is in a building stage.
29. St. Louis-The Rams build big leads, and blow them in the 2nd
relatively lacking talent. The coaching staff is the biggest problem, where the Rams are out
strategized every week.
30. New York Jets-The Jets really deserve to be at the bottom of this list. Their lone win keeps
ranked above Jacksonville and Oakland.
31. Jacksonville-The Jags seem to improve weekly. They won’t be a dangerous team, but are
showing flashes of developing talent.
32. Oakland-Not much to say on Oakland. Carr looks like a QB that
