2013 NFL Draft Scouting Report on Tyler Wilson

By CJ Milner

Tyler Wilson, QB, Arkansas

Height: 6-foot-2

Weight: 220 lbs

Strengths
– Underrated athlete
– Nice footwork in pocket
– Good pocket awareness
– Quick release
– Very good arm strength
– Arm strength to make throws outside the numbers
– At times he can make wonderful touch passes over defenders
– Leadership ability
– Can drive the team down the field in crunch time
Weaknesses
– Inconsistent deep ball accuracy
– Accuracy outside the pocket
– Sometimes forces passes without going through reads
– Somewhat of a Matt Stafford type side arm release that leads to a fair amount of deflected balls
Summary
Tyler Wilson has flown somewhat under the radar after a strong junior season due to the Razorbacks firing of Bobby Petrino which led to a 4-8 record. He has improved his accuracy inside the pocket but he struggles when facing pressure as well as on the run. However, Wilson looks like a completely different QB when given a clean pocket to work with displaying elite accuracy. Tyler Wilson will appeal to scouts as a safe prospect with no boom/bust potential as well as a prospect that fits well into most offensive systems. As demanding of a position that QB is in the NFL, a strong senior bowl week could solidify him as a first round pick.
Projected Round: Late 1st
NFL Comparison: Jay Cutler
