Trent Richardson, 2012 NFL Mock Draft Top Running Back

College: Alabama

Height: 5’11”

Weight: 220 lbs

Projected pick: Top 25 Pick

08/26/2011: In this 2011 NFL Season Trent Richardson is going to be a guy that a lot of people are watching. First of all he played behind/with Mark Ingram a past Heisman Winner as well as a first round draft pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Though Mark Ingram was and is a very good Running Back I myself think Trent Richardson is a more all around RB. Not only can Trent Richardson run over defenses he has the elite top speed to also break off long runs which was more difficult to Mark Ingram to do. I previously spoke about how other positions are being valued more because of how schemes are changing… well the opposite goes for Running Backs. These days a lot of teams do a running back by committee and don’t just have 1 starting running back that gets all the carries. A couple years ago I think that Trent Richardson would be a top 15 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft but due to this I think he is more likely to be a top 25 pick. I currently have him being the first Running Back off the board and also right around the 25th pick in my 2012 NFL Mock Draft. He and LaMichael James seem to be the clear cut top 2 Running Backs in the 2012 NFL Draft and are my top two prospects in my 2012 NFL Mock Draft. A lot of people consider Richardson to be a injury concern because he is a straight up runner. However, another Running Back currently in the NFL that is a “Straight Up” runner is Adrian Peterson who I think has had a pretty good career so far.
