Spenser Cramer’s 2012 NFL Mock Draft

2012 NFL Mock Draft: 4 Rounds Updated on 04/26/2012

1.       Indianapolis Colts: Andrew Luck, QB-Stanford

The Colts get their franchise quarterback after cutting franchise icon Peyton Manning.

2.       Washington Redskins (STL): Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor

And the Redskins are locked into this pick also, just not officially. They wouldn’t trade up to number two for anyone outside of Luck and Griffin. The Minnesota Vikings are on the clock.

3.       Minnesota Vikings: Matt Kalil, OT-USC

While this pick is not as obvious as the first two, it is still a very easy one. Kalil is the BPA and also plays a position of need. Christmas came early for Christian Ponder this year.

4.       Cleveland Browns:  Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama

This is where the drama starts. The Browns have four choices here. In order:

1) Trent Richardson

2) Morris Claiborne

3) Ryan Tannehill

4) Justin Blackmon

Mike Holmgren does not draft quarterbacks or receivers high, which is why Tannehill and Blackmon are three and four on the list. While Holmgren does like to draft defensive backs early, Richardson is the superior prospect here and running back is a huge need here as Peyton Hillis signed with the Chiefs via free agency.

5.       Tampa Bay Buccaneers:  Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU

The Buccaneers shelled out a lot of money this offseason, including at corner. However, the signing was Eric Wright. Wright is terrible. If you do not believe me, just ask Lions fans. This pick will be decided by whoever the Browns take. Since I have the Browns taking Richardson, Claiborne is the pick and fills a need at corner.
