NFL Mock Draft 2013 picks 11-21 by Orinda…
11) San Diego Chargers – Lane Johnson OT, Oklahoma
The Chargers need OL help. Phillip Rivers felt way to much heat in 2012. At 6’6" 303 lbs w/ the frame to add more bulk he’ll keep Rivers in the pocket where he’s most effective. JUCO QB 3 years ago. Then moved to TE then DE. So he’s very athletic. Had a great week at senior bowl & posted 40 time faster than a lot of safeties at combine.
12) Miami Dolphins – Chance Warmack G, Alabama
After losing Jake Long to Rams & most OT already gone the Dolphins grab the best interior lineman available. At 6’2" 317 lbs may be best overall player available. Will help keep young QB Tannehill protected.
13) Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Xavier Rhodes CB, Florida ST.
The Bucs could use a quality CB. Rhonde Barber is 38 years old & Talib is in NE. At 6’2" 210 lbs can play CB or S. 3 year starter for FSU.
14) Carolina Panthers – Sheldon Richardson DT, Missouri
Richardson can create havoc. At 6’4" 295 lbs he should gain 10 lbs & retain elite speed. The Panthers could really use his talents on DL.
15) New Orleans Saints – Barkevious Mingo OLB, LSU
With the Saints going 34 this year he’ll offer a good pass rush & pressure QB. At 6’4" 241 lbs the Saints take a local player w/ star potential.
16) St. Louis Rams – Kenny Vaccaro SS/FS, Texas
The Rams need 2 safeties w/ the release of Quinton Mikel & Craig Dahl. At 6’1′ 214 lbs has the speed & range to to play FS or SS. Led Texas in tackles in 2012 w/ 96. Is good at coverage & a sure tackler.
17) Pittsburgh Steelers – Jarvis Jones OLB, Georgia
The Steelers need a sack artist w/ the release of James Harrison. They get it here. With 14.5 sacks, 24.5 TFL & 7 forced fumbles he’ll change things quickly. Falls a bit due to spinal condition. 6’2" 242 lbs.
18) Dallas Cowboys – Jonathan Hankins DT, Ohio ST.
The ‘Boys need a new DT for DC Kiffin’s 43. At 6’3" 320 lbs he’ll stop the run & pressure QB.
19) N.Y. Giants – Bjoern Werner DE, Florida ST.
The G-Men need a new DE with Osi & Tuck possibly leaving. Jerry Reese can’t pass up quality rushers from the DE position. At 6’3" 266 lbs should develop into a awesome DE. Had 13 sacks & 18 TFL in 2012.
20) Chicago Bears – Alec Ogletree OLB/ILB, Georgia
With the release of Brian Urlacher the Bears select his replacement. At 6’3" 236 lbs w/ the frame to add 10-12 lbs of muscle. Had 112 tackles for Dawgs after sitting out 4 game suspension in 2012. A good tackler & team leader. Former safety so is very fast for a LB. Also good at pass coverage. A bit of a nasty streak to boot.
21) Cincinnati Bengals – D.J. Fluker OT, Alabama
With the Bengals 2 OT’s leaving for FA they grab some big protection for QB Dalton. They don’t get much bigger at 6’5" 339 lbs. Could play ROT or RG. Well coached by Nick Saban’s staff.
