Oregon vs. Arizona State: The Key Factors

In this game on Saturday (11/03/07) at 6:30 Oregon and Arizona State face off for a potential spot in the BCS game.  Both teams have a chance to make it to the BCS bowl because of the way they are both playing and their strengths of schedule.  Arizona State ends with one of the strongest schedules in college football.  If ASU ends up winning out many say that they have to make the BCS game because they played such a tough schedule.  I agree with these other people in saying that Arizona State should make the BCS game if they win out.  However, I don’t think they are going to make it past Saturday without a loss. Dennis Dixon, QB and Jonathan Stewart, RB are both legitimate players who are playing most likely their last year in college football.  Dixon is a senior and Stewart will most likely opt out early because he is a rising star and will most likely be selected in the first round.  What Arizona State needs to do is keep playing good defense and stop these two guys. The problem with that is that Dennis Dixon has only thrown 3 interceptions all year with 16 touchdowns.  Stewart has also been very tough to contain on the ground as well because of his punishing running style.  The last threat from this group is that not only can Dixon throw the ball but he is also able to run the ball.  I think that ASU is in for their toughest challenge of the year and I think they won’t be able to contain these two extremely productive offensive weapons.
