Justin Kissel’s 2012 NFL Mock Draft.
2012 NFL Mock Draft Updated on 04/26/2012
1. Indianapolis Colts: Andrew Luck, QB-Stanford
This one has been a no brainer for a while. They can’t give up Peyton Manning and not take what everyone is calling the greatest QB to come out since. I don’t see it in fact his arm strength isn’t that impressive to me. Luck being anything more than Matt Hasselbeck in his prime will surprise me. However he is the best QB right now in this draft and he will be fed to the wolves early.
2. Washington Redskins via STL: Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor
Washington and Shanahan bet the farm to move into this spot and gave up way to much in hopes of winning now. I like RG3 a lot but not for this price. I think he is a more complete version of Michael Vick. However, when your need is a QB this one is definitely exciting.
3. Minnesota Vikings: Matt Kalil, OT-USC
The Vikings have a lot of holes and if someone will give up enough the spot will be given up. Clearly they won’t get what the Rams got from the Redskins, but still why not move down if everyone is in love with Morris Claiborne or Ryan Tannehill and want to jump in front of the Browns? If they stay put it is Matt Kalil the big guy from USC who is a solid OT and a need to help young Christian Ponder survive another season.
4. Cleveland Browns: Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
*Trade Spot* It’s clear the Brown’s will not move up in this draft. Could they move down? Don’t put it past Mike Holmgren. * The phones have been burning up to grab Claiborne at this spot in front of the Bucs. The Browns need stars not picks. I think they stay put and pull the trigger on Trent Richardson. One of the most dynamic backs coming into the NFL since Adrian Peterson. This kid is the real deal it’ll be interesting to see if the Browns destroy his potential, but if Peyton Hillis can do it and win a Madden cover then Richardson can do it twice as good. Oh and if they don’t take Richardson they start opening day with Montario Hardesty in the backfield. If you’re not a Vols fan go on and say it WHO?.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU
Fans wanted Richardson and who can blame them LaGarett Blount is not the long term back there. Also how exciting would it be to see Richardson run a wheel route after Vincent Jackson Ran the CB and S off? The Bucs have their eyes on CB Morris Claiborne. One of the best cover corners I have seen in a while. This kid is an instant starter and the heir apparent for the old man Ronde Barber.
