1. Carolina Panthers: Cam Newton, QB, Auburn
2011 NFL Mock Draft 2nd rated Quarterback
I have had Da’Quan Bowers the 2011 NFL Mock Draft 5th overall defensive end after a poor pro day, Von Miller the 2011 NFL Mock Draft top rated Outside Linebacker, Marcell Dareus the 2011 NFL Mock Draft top rated defensive tackle, Nick Fairley the 2011 NFL Mock Draft 2nd best defensive tackle, Blaine Gabbert the 2011 NFL Mock Draft top rated Quarterback and Patrick Peterson the 2011 NFL Mock Draft top rated Cornerback all going first overall in past 2011 NFL Mock Drafts. However, in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft I have Cam Newton as the choice and until draft day I think he will stay first in my 2011 NFL Mock Draft. Cam Newton just has a ton of upside and we haven’t seen a player come into the NFL like Newton ever. He is the size of Ben Roethlisberger but moves better and has just as good of an arm. I think that Newton will be very good in the NFL and that is why he is the top choice for me in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft .
2. Denver Broncos: Von Miller, OLB, T A&M
2011 NFL Mock Draft Top rated Outside Linebacker
The choice with this pick is between the top rated Defensive Tackle in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft in Marcell Dareus, Patrick Peterson and Von Miller who are all the top players at their respective positions. I think the Broncos need to improve their secondary and Peterson will do that right away and will be a good NFL player. Patrick Peterson ran a 4.32 at the 2011 NFL Draft Scouting combine which is crazy seeing as he weighed in at at just under 220 lbs. Patrick Peterson the top rated Cornerback in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft should be a top 5 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. That being said I think that with the signing of Champ Bailey it isn’t the biggest need for the Broncos. So in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft I have them taking the top pass rusher in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft in Von Miller.
3. Buffalo Bills: Marcell Dareus, DE/DT, ‘Bama
2011 NFL Mock Draft Top rated Defensive Tackle
This is a tough pick for me because what happens with the first two picks strongly influence this NFL Draft pick. If Peterson or Newton fall I think either of them could be the favorite to go to the Bills 3rd overall in the NFL Draft. With this 2011 NFL Mock Draft pick I have them selecting the best available defensive tackle/end who can play a 3-4 Rush LB position in Von Miller who I see as a good NFL Prospect in his rookie season. However, Von Miller is now off the board so I have Marcell Dareus the stud Defensive Tackle going to the Buffalo Bills. I also could see the Bills going Patrick Peterson and Blaine Gabbert going to the Buffalo Bills in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft.
4. Cincinnati Bengals: A.J. Green, WR, Georgia
2011 NFL Mock Draft Top rated Wide Receiver
This is a tough pick for the Bengals in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft because there are a lot of good players available in this NFL Mock Draft with the 4th overall pick. The top options for this pick would be Patrick Peterson, Blaine Gabbert and AJ Green all the top rated players in their respective positions in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft. With the questions around the Bengals Wide receiver core I have the Bengals selecting a wide receiver with this pick in the NFL Draft. Gabbert would be a good pick in this NFL Draft as well but I think the Bengals wait until the 2nd round and pick up a QB like Andy Dalton, Colin Kaepernick, Christian Ponder or Jake Locker.
5. Arizona Cardinals: Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri
2011 NFL Mock Draft top rated Quarterback
The top rated QB in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft is still available with the 5th overall pick. The Cardinals have a couple of options such as Julio Jones, Patrick Peterson, Nick Fairley, Robert Quinn and Tyron Smith. Some of these players may not fit the cardinals as well as other but in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft I believe the Cardinals pull the trigger on Gabbert if he is available. If Gabbert is gone I think that Robert Quinn and Julio Jones would be the next 2 best options in this NFL Draft.
6. Cleveland Browns: Julio Jones, WR, ‘Bama
2011 NFL Mock Draft 2nd Wide Receiver
This pick is also a tough pick for me because they can go defensive with Fairley, Peterson or Quinn. Another option in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft would be selecting the 2nd rated WR in Julio Jones. With this pick I think that it is tough for the Browns to pass on Peterson but the bigger need I believe is Wide Receiver. I think that to develop a young QB you need a good WR core and Julio Jones helps the Browns to do this with this 2011 NFL Mock Draft pick.
7. San Francisco 49ers: Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU
2011 NFL Mock Draft top rated Cornerback
I know this a dream scenario for the 49ers as Peterson could go 2,4,6 in this NFL Mock Draft 2011 but in this one I have other good players and bigger needs jumping ahead of the most elite talent. If Peterson falls to 7 in the 2011 NFL Draft I think he is a lock to go to the 49ers and even if he doesn’t I could still see the 49ers going after Prince Amukamara (2011 NFL Mock Draft #2 CB) with this pick in the NFL Draft. But due to the way this 2011 NFL mock draft plays out I have the 49ers selecting the very elite and versatile #1 ranked 2011 NFL Mock Draft CB 7th overall.
8. Tennessee Titans: Robert Quinn, DE, UNC
2011 NFL Mock Draft top rated Defensive End
I know the Titans drafted Derrick Morgan in the first round last year. Additionally they already have a good Defensive End in Jason Babin. However, Morgan still has not proven himself because he was injured for the majority of the year last year and we still don’t know if Babin will be able to be resigned. I previously had Bowers (2011 NFL Mock Draft #2 DE) going to the Titans with this pick but he had a very bad workout and it seems that a lot of people are really worried about his injury. However, Robert Quinn (2011 NFL Mock Draft #1 DE) seems to be the top rated 4-3 Defensive end in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft and he had a good Combine improving on his speed from the combine.
9. Dallas Cowboys: Tyron Smith, OT, USC
2011 NFL Mock Draft top rated Offensive Tackle
This is the pick that I had prior to the combine and before everyone decided that Tyron Smith is now showing to be the top OT in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft. With the way that Smith has been working out and his size and speed combination I would not be surprised if he ended up being a top 5 pick to someone like the Buffalo Bills. I think that 3 would definitely be a bit of a reach but I believe Smith is going to be a blind side beast for years to come. I know that Mike Pouncey (2011 NFL Mock Draft #1 G/C) recently said that he thinks the Cowboys will draft him in the 2011 NFL Draft. I can’t disagree with his thought due to the fact that his brother played so well in his rookie season that the sky is the limit for Mike. However, I still think Tyron Smith trumps him because of Smith’s athleticism and ability to play both right and left tackle at the next level. ..
10. Washington Redskins: Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn
2011 NFL Mock Draft Rank 2nd rated Defensive Tackle
The Redskins have a couple of options in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft. They could get a top tier defensive lineman such as Ryan Kerrigan (2011 NFL Mock Draft DE?/OLB) with this pick. Additionally they could take Prince Amukamara to play opposite Deangalo Hall and lock up the secondary. With this pick I have the Redskins selecting a Defensive Tackle to fill the whole that Albert Haynesworth will end up leaving. Fairley had a good combine workout and he had a good pro day as well. I think that he will be a good NFL Player at the next level and I don’t believe he will fall out of the top 10 in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft.
11. Houston Texans: Prince Amukamara, CB, NE
2011 NFL Mock Draft Rank 2nd rated Cornerback
The Texans lose their shot at AJ Green so they have to take the next available player. I think that the Texans need another top tier pass rusher opposite Mario Williams for their D-Line to be productive. However, their secondary was not very good this year and Prince is a very good CB out of a very good defensive program. He ran a sub 4.40 at the Scouting combine showing that he has top end speed and can play at the next level. Other options in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft are all the available 3-4 Defensive ends and 3-4 Rush LBS. I think that the Texans may very well go defensive line with this NFL Draft pick but for the time being I have the 2nd rated 2011 NFL Mock Draft CB falling to them in this NFL Mock Draft so I have them selecting him.
