2012 NFL Mock Draft Picks 6-10 by Alistair
6. St. Louis Rams vs WASH: Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame
Floyd’s stock is soaring, with apparent visits set up with several teams drafting in the top 15. Riley Reiff would be TOO much of a reach at 6. Floyd takes care of the offensive weapon need. Solid O-Linemen can be taken in the second (Roger Saffold) .
7. Jacksonville Jaguars: Melvin Ingram, DE/OLB, S. Carolina
With Floyd being their first option, they fill another position of need in Melvin Ingram. With already flaming out with prospects with work ethic issues (Derrick Harvey), I think they go Ingram over Quinten Coples.
8. Miami Dolphins: Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M
Peyton Manning? Swing and a miss.
Matt Flynn? Swing and a miss. It is best for Jeff Ireland’s job that they figure out the quarterbacking situation now. Even if Philbin determines he isn’t ready to start day 1, Matt Moore provides an excellent stop gap.
9. Carolina Panthers: Fletcher Cox, DT, Miss State
Fletcher Cox seems to be the last riser of the draft season. I’ve seen him mocked as high as 6, and as low as 21. With their offense set, defense has to be the pick here.
10. Buffalo Bills: Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa
With the free agency additions of Williams and Anderson, they can focus on the offensive line. They need to protect their big money QB Fitzpatrick and their soon-to-be big money RB Fred Jackson. Reiff is a slight reach here, and his arm length is a concern but he will still be successful.
