2012 NFL Mock Draft Picks 6-10 by Alex
6. St. Louis Rams vs WASH: Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma St
The Rams are left with Danny Amendola and Steve Smith as their two top receivers after Brandon Lloyd’s departure. Justin Blackmon fills a huge need considering that St. Louis has one of the worst WR cores in the NFL. Sam Bradford is desperate for a weapon and he finally gets one .
7. Jacksonville Jaguars: Stephon Gilmore, CB, S Carolina
I don’t really understand the sudden rise of Gilmore on draft boards but its happening. Gilmore would fill a huge need at CB for Jacksonville considering that Rashean Mathis is coming off an ACL injury. Jacksonville is no stranger to reaching for players they love so Gilmore could be the pick here. If I was the GM of the Jaguars I would take Melvin Ingram here, but sadly I’m not.
8. Miami Dolphins: Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M
Ryan Tannehill, like Jake Locker and Christian Ponder before him, is being pushed in to the top part of the draft because of the huge need at QB for most teams. Tannehill is inexpierenced and would be better off sitting on the bench for a year or two, but because Garrard and Matt Moore are not the answer at QB for Miami, he is pushed into the starting role. I expect Tannehill to strugle in his rookie year.
9. Carolina Panthers: Fletcher Cox, DT, Miss State
Two third round draft picks from last year are not the answer at DT for the Panthers and Cox would instantly upgrade the position for Carolina. Cox has been my favorite DT the whole draft, even after Poe’s insane combine, and its nice that he is finally getting the recognition he deserves.
10. Buffalo Bills: Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame
Riley Reiff does not fit the big OL mold that the Bills love so I don’t believe that he will be the pick here. Floyd gives the Bills an actual weapon across from the inconsistent Stevie Johnson. I think the Bills should give Fitzpatrick one more chance but this time, with another deadly weapon. If the same result happens after next year, Fitzpatrick should be gone.
