2012 NFL Mock Draft Picks 22-32 by Alex
22. Cleveland Browns: Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor
I feel bad for Colt McCoy. He is possibly going to lose the starting QB job but he doesn’t have ANY weapons. If he can’t play well this year with two of the most explosive playmakers in the draft, he will be replaced.
23. Detroit Lions: Janoris Jenkins, CB, N Alabama
Detroit clearly has no problem with picking players who have off-the-field issues. (See Nick Fairley and Mikel Leshoure) If Jenkins can stay out of trouble and change his life around, Detroit has one of the best CBs in the draft. If he can’t they would look pretty stupid.
24. Pittsburgh Steelers: Dont’a Hightower, LB, Alabama
James Farrior will likely retire next year so he will need to be replaced. The 2nd best ILB in the draft is Hightower and imagine how much he would benefit from being mentored by Farrior for a year? Woodley, Harrison, Timmons, and Hightower would be an insane LB core next year.
25. Denver Broncos: Michael Brockers, DT, LSU
DT is the biggest need for the Broncos and they get one of the best in the draft. Brockers at 25 would be one of the biggest steals in the draft. Brockers helps the already great Broncos defense shore up their d-line.
26. Houston Texans: Nick Perry, DE/OLB, USC
The Texans need a great pass-rusher for their D so why not pick one of the best in the draft. Nick Perry, I believe is very underrated and could be a very solid starter for the Texans. The sick Texans D gets even sicker with Perry added to it.
27. New England Patriots: Chandler Jones, DE, Syracuse
The Pats really need a DE and could pick Mcclellin here. But, I believe that Chandler Jones is the better prospect and that is the consensus around the league. Imagine being a part of Jones’ family? First Jon wins UFC 145 and then Chandler becomes a 1st round pick. I wish my family was like that.
28. Green Bay Packers: Shea McClellin, OLB, Boise State
The Green Bay Packers really need a LB on the other side of Clay Matthews and the Pack apparently love the LB out of Boise State. Mcclellin is a great pass-rusher that will thrive in GB’s defense.
29. Baltimore Ravens: Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin
I think Konz is the most logical choice here. Matt Birk isn’t getting any younger and will most likely retire after this season. Konz will thrive under the mentoring of a great center like Birk and can be an immediate fill-in for Birk next year.
30. San Francisco 49ers: Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia Tech
The 49ers are in love with Stephen Hill. Mario Manningham, Randy Moss, and Michael Crabtree are not the best WR trio in the NFL but adding Hill would put them in contention. Imagine how much Hill will benefit from learning from one of the best WRs of all-time?.
31. New England Patriots: Harrison Smith, S, Notre Dame
I fully expect New England to trade this pick but if they don’t, Smith can be picked to address their safety situation. Harrsion Smith is a very underrated safety who would be great next to Patrick Chung is New England’s defense.
32. New York Giants: Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford
Congrats to the Giants, they are Super Bowl champs so they can simply sit back and select the best player that falls to them. (Just like they do every year) The Giants (My favorite team) let the draft fall to them and snag one of the best players in the draft, Jonathan Martin. Martin did a great job of protecting Andrew Luck and should do a great job protecting an ELIte QB in Eli Manning. Hopefully the G-men can take home another trophy!.
