Alex Lukmann’s 2012 NFL Mock Draft
My name is Alex Lukmann and I live in NJ. This is the first website I’ve ever done draft coverage and mock drafts on. I’m probably the youngest draft analyst on the web so don’t go so hard on me if you don’t like my picks. I’ve followed the draft in depth since the 09 Draft and I’ve been a die-hard Giants fan since I was born. You can follow me on Twitter @TuckYou91 and my e-mail is [email protected]. 2012 NFL Mock Draft Updated on 04/26/2012
1. Indianapolis Colts: Andrew Luck, QB-Stanford
Lock for number 1. He has been since he declared and there is no way he isn’t picked here. I was thinking that maybe Irsay was creating a smokescreen with all those tweets pointing to them picking Luck, but it has now been made official. Colts fans can all go to sleep happy on Thursday night knowing that their franchise is in good hand.
2. Washington Redskins via STL: Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor
The Redskins finally have a chance in a superstar QB division. I like to think of Robert Griffin III as the next franchise QB who is faster and has a better arm than Cam Newton. (aka Ace Boogie) I also like to think about what socks RG3 is going to wear on draft night. But anyway, Redskins fans can also go to sleep very happy tonight. Maybe a little happier than Colts fans considering they have waited a long time for a franchise QB.
3. Minnesota Vikings: Matt Kalil, OT-USC
I think this whole Morris Claiborne chatter is just stupid. I believe that is all just a smokescreen and that Rick Spielman will come to his senses. Minnesota really needs to protect Christian Ponder, and the way to do it is sitting right in front of them.
4. Cleveland Browns: Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
RB is a huge need for the Browns considering Peyton Hillis signed with the Chiefs and Montario Hardesty is always hurt. Trent Richardson is the best RB prospect coming out of college since Adrian Peterson so my guess is that the Browns wouldn’t have a problem drafting him this high.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU
I’ll keep this short and sweet. Ronde Barber is old and probably will retire next year, Aquib Talib is most likely going to jail, and Eric Wright just plain sucks. Claiborne is the pick here considering he isn’t stupidly taken by the Vikings.
