2013 NFL Mock Draft by Ian | Picks 17-24
17) Pittsburgh- Jarvis Jones OLB Georgia
The neck injury is the only thing stopping Jones from being a top 10 or even top 5 pick. Spinal stenosis is what knocked Marcus McNeil out of the league but Jones takes all the possible precautions with his neck. Still the neck and back problems will scare some teams away.
18) Dallas- Kenny Vaccaro S Texas
Gerald Sensabaugh was cut this week. He started for the cowboys last season meaning a new starter will be needed for Dallas. Kenny Vaccaro is the top safety in this draft and has even played some corner before. Vaccaro has the cover skills to be a pro bowl caliber safety in the NFL.
19) New York Giants- Tyler Eifert TE Notre Dame
Might come as a shock to some people but with no ILB worth a top 20 pick and the top DT’s off the board Eifert becomes a luxury pick for the giants.
20) Chicago- John Cooper G UNC
Anyone who doesn’t think the Bears offensive line wasn’t horrible should tell that to Jay Cutler. He had no time to throw and the line was exposed even more after he got hurt. Cooper is a legitimate guard who can be an anchor in the middle of that line for years to come.
21) Cincinnati- Johnathan Cyprien S Florida International
Safety is a position that needs upgraded for the Bengals. Cyprien has jumped way up most draft boards and can fill a need in their back 4.
22) St. Louis- DeAndre Hopkins WR Clemson
Besides protecting Sam Bradford, the Rams need to find him some weapons. Hopkins benefitted from the combine and is a proven WR, just watch the bowl game vs LSU.
23) Minnesota- Tavon Austin WR West Virginia
IF Percy Harvin forces his way out of Minnesota, Austin could fill that same role of a jack of all trades for the vikings. His blazing speed shows up on film unlike a few other prospects who don’t play nearly as fast as they ran their 40’s.
24) Indianapolis- Desmond Trufant CB Washington
Trading for Vontae Davis wasn’t a bad move for Indy. Adding Trufant on the opposite side will give them two legitimate corners which is needed in a pass happy league.
