Ians 2013 NFL Mock Draft
Updated 03/05/13
My name is Ian and I am very interested in the draft and do new mocks fairly often. I have a twitter dedicated to the draft process @WalshDraft so follow me to talk draft
1) Kansas City- Star Lotulelei DT Utah
After franchise tagging Brandon Albert, left tackle is no longer the teams top need. If Star Lotulelei’s heart checks out he is the top defensive player. Pairing his versatility with guys like Justin Houston and Tamba Hali will benefit KC greatly.
2) Jacksonville- Geno Smith QB West Virginia
Let’s face it, the Blaine Gabbert experiment is a bust in Jacksonville. Geno Smith is the obvious front runner in a weak QB class and should fit the new system in Jacksonville well.
3) Oakland- Shariff Floyd DT Florida
Floyd barely edged out a few other players for this pick. Floyd’s stock has been steadily rising this offseason and fills a need for Oakland.
4) Philadelphia- Eric Fisher OT Central Michigan
Luke Joeckel is a better prospect than Fisher but Fisher is more athletic and a better fit in the scheme we all think Chip Kelly will be running in Philadelphia
5) Detroit- Dee Milliner CB Alabama
Detroit has ignored their need for a CB for a few drafts. They do also need a pass rusher if Cliff Avril needs but this draft is deep in both positions so the Lions should take the best available. Dee Milliner is a physical corner who dominated the combine with a torn shoulder labrum.
6) Cleveland- Dion Jordan OLB Oregon
Cleveland needs a 3-4 OLB and Jordan is the best one in this draft. Jordan would also make some sense to a few other teams so Cleveland should be happy if he makes in to the 6th pick. As a former WR and TE, athleticism is a huge benefit in pass coverage.
7) Arizona- Luke Joeckel OT Texas A&M
Joeckel is a steal at 7 for Arizona. The ability to keep whoever is under center for the Cardinals upright will be huge. Joeckel is NFL ready after playing against many of the top talents in the nation this past season in the SEC.
8) Buffalo- Cordarelle Patterson WR Tennessee
I am not totally sold on Patterson. He is very unpolished but does have a ton of natural ability. Having a second WR across from Stevie Johnson will be a burden on opposing secondaries for years to come, assuming they upgrade their QB..
