1. Cleveland-Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn St.
There isn’t a standout in the QB class, so the Browns can
still go QB at pick 4. Second, it’s hard to see any rookie QB surviving the wrath of Todd Haley,
and it’s doubtful Haley was brought in to develop a QB for a couple of years. Look for the
Browns to trade, or sign, a signal caller. This year has shown, more than ever, that a stud
running back can make up for an average QB
2. NY Giants-Sam Darnold, QB, USC
This is the Shurmur show now. Darnold is probably not the
best QB in the draft. And maybe Darnold is completely raw and makes very poor decisions, but
he has a thorough understanding of the position. He comes from a pro system, reads defenses,
and shows a terrific arm. Let’s not forget, Shurmur has worked miracles with guys like Foles and
Keenum, a year under Manning and the Darnold show will begin.
3. Indianapolis-Minkah Fitzpatrick, CB, Alabama
Indy should be trading down for a LT and the Bills
have two 1 st round picks, and need a QB. The D is horrid, and any player helps. The only way
Chubb will go here is if the Colts move to a 43. With a draft deep in pass rushers, the Colts will
grab the aggressive, and tough tackling, Fitzpatrick to team with Wilson and Hooker.

4. Cleveland(via Houston)-Roquan Smith, LB, Georgia
Dorsey always seems to land the players with the most buzz. The team gets a vet QB, Kizer develops underneath him, a star RB is drafted, DE was the pick last year, so now what? Maybe a WR or DT really starts to shine, but Smith is a missile of a LB who will generate a ton of attention. In this defensive scheme, Smith can be a versatile tool, moving from ILB to OLB. The Browns could also trade back for a CB, OT, or FS.
5. Denver-Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA
If Denver misses on Cousins, it’s a given that a QB will be selected
here. Allen is the safest, but Rosen will seduce Elway the most. Rosen is more of an Elway
clone, an athlete with a golden arm. Though he can never seem to stay healthy, Rosen fits the
mold of what Elway wants, not necessarily what Denver needs.
6. NY Jets-Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming
The hype machine has Allen rising to the #1 QB, and they’re
probably right. Allen is steady, methodical, smooth, and smart. He will never be a flashy star,
but will always fly under the radar with solid and safe play..

7. Tampa Bay-Bradley Chubb, DE, N. Carolina St.
Certainly an elite producer, Chubb hasn’t passed
the measurables test at the combine yet. It doesn’t seem like Chubb could be a rush LB. He
relies on his first step and the ability to stay low and turn, Chubb is a powerful brute. He’s a
hand in the dirt end, and they can tend to be a dime a dozen. Cleveland will be the only team
that runs a 43 that would take a shot at Chubb, but they already have a bevy of young ends.
Tampa makes the most sense to take Chubb, and he will be a plug and play prospect who will
contribute immediately.
8. Chicago-Tremaine Edmunds, LB, Virginia Tech
Fangio’s most important piece is the pass rusher.
The Bears have Floyd, but the rest of the position is aging or need to be released for salary room
(McPhee). With the Bears probably not looking to make a major splash financially, they’ll draft a
rising star like Edmunds. Edmunds is the rare blend of size and speed, he’s shooting up the
boards much like Ezekial Ansah did. There may be better pass rushers, but Edmunds may be
closest to a sure thing.
9. San Francisco-Derwin James, S, Florida St.
Garoppolo could test the free agent market, but the
Niners will simply tag him, so no huge surprises here. This defense plays as a unit, but the
emphasis will be on the secondary. With Reid on the way out, the Niners will look for a
mammoth hitter out in center field. Though his stock is sliding a bit, this pick will a priority for
Lynch and Saleh.
10. Oakland-DaRon Payne, DT, Alabama
Oakland would have been all in on Chubb, Edmunds, and
Smith, but they’re long gone. With the offense seemingly set, the first three picks should be all
defense. Ellis was solid, but a free agent. Vanderdoes played amazing, but is seemingly injury
prone. Payne is a top prospect that played his way into the top 10 during the National
Championship. A player that is superb disruptor, Payne can be an elite DT in the NFL.
