Ray’s 2014 NFL Mock Draft

Ray’s 2014 NFL Mock Draft

05/06/2014

1.  Houston Texans: Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina

In the past few days it has gone from Clowney is a lock for the Texans and high praise to possibly not being a good fit/ Smith favors Mack over Clowney. I think the bad fit rumors are just so teams may be interested in trading up. Clowney is easily the #1 prospect and for a guy like Clowney you must make him a good fit. They have been saying Watt isn’t the prototypical fit either but I think Clowney can dominate with Watt.

2. St. Louis Rams: Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn

The Rams got a steal from the RG3 trade in 2012. They have failed to protect Sam Bradford since he was drafted. Bradford needs help to protect him and Robinson can be the piece to Bradford’s success.

3.  Jacksonville Jaguars: Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson

This pick is a hard one for me. Jacksonville needs a QB, WR and OLB. With Manziel, Mack and Watkins on the board they could go in multiple directions. Justin Blackmon can’t stay out of trouble and his days in Jacksonville may be numbered. Watkins can help the veteran or rookie QB.

4. Cleveland Browns: Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M

This is my first surprise pick. Cleveland has the weapons to make a worse to first campaign. I think Cleveland may draft Khalil Mack here to strengthen that defense but the starting QB needs more weapons. If they select Mike Evans, they will have Evans, Josh Gordon, Jordan Cameron and Ben Tate.

5.  Oakland Raiders: Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M

The Raiders made some splashes in free agency in signing Justin Tuck and Antonio Smith to strengthen there defensive line. They let left tackle Jared Veldheer walk in free agency. Whoever is the starting QB they will need to be protected. Matthews to some experts are considered as the most balanced OT in the draft and can be a great OT for the Raiders.
