2014 NFL Draft Top 5 Quarterbacks

2014 NFL Draft Top 5 QB’s

With the end of the season nearing and the NFL Draft getting closer I am starting to look at QB prospects for the upcoming 2014 NFL Draft. At this point the big question is who will get the first overall pick and who will be the first overall pick. You can find odds for teams at SportsBettingOnline.ag. With that all said check out my top 5 QB’s below.

1.       Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville

Teddy Bridgewater is not on an elite team and doesn’t have elite play makers around him. He is the real deal at Quarterback though. He has good size and good arm strength to go along with good athleticism. He has the ability to run but is definitely more of a pocket passer than a runner. All in all I say he is hands down the top QB in the 2014 NFL Draft and should be the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

2.       Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State

Like Bridgewater Carr is not an elite football school playing elite talent week in and week out. He has shown that he can pick apart the defenses that he has been playing though. He is a good QB with good arm strength and very good vision. The 2nd QB in the 2014 NFL Draft is up for grabs but if I had a vote I would be taking Carr if I needed a QB badly and Bridgewater was gone.

3.       Brett Hundley, QB, UCLA

Hundley has not been great this year but he has been very good. He has shown that he has the ability to play at a very high level. After Bridgewater scouts are going to have to really do their jobs to make sure they are getting the guy that they want.

4.       Johnny “Football” Manziel, QB, Texas A&M

Manziel is a guy with a lot of attitude and a lot of play making ability. He is undersized for the QB position in the NFL. Additionally he has shown to have some attitude issues which may lend to some teams passing on him in April. Along with him being short he is also not a very thick build which could lead to injuries with his style of play (See RGIII).

5.       Tajh Boyd, QB, Clemson

I went back and forth with this selection to see if it should be Mettenberger, Mccarron or Boyd. I went with Boyd because I just believe that he has the higher ceiling and more potential to be a starting QB in the NFL. He has had some problems reading defenses and making the correct decisions but I believe with the right situation he could be a star at the next level.
