12. Minnesota Vikings: Da’Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson
2011 NFL Mock Draft Rank #2 DE
I go back and forth with the type of player the Vikings are looking into getting at the QB position. If they are looking for a QB the best prospect still available in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft is Jake Locker. If they are just looking to pound the ball on the ground they may need to look into getting another veteran such as Donovan Mcnabb. But for the time being I have them taking Jake Locker
13. Detroit Lions: Anthony Castonzo, OT, BC
2011 NFL Mock Draft Rank #2 OT
The Lions have a couple of good options with this pick. They could go Wide receiver to get another good option for Mathew Stafford. Another option would be a top tier CB to help a below average secondary. However, in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft because the top rated people in those other 2 positions are off the board I have them taking an OT. I previously had Nate Solder projected with this pick but after his weight loss I think he falls a little bit and Castonzo is the second Tackle off the board in my NFL Mock Draft 2011.
14. St. Louis Rams: Mike Pouncey, OG/C, Florida
2011 NFL Mock Draft Rank #1 C/G
I previously had Julio Jones going 14th overall to the St. Louis Rams and then I had Prince Amukamara (2011 NFL Mock Draft #2 CB) as well. Both of the players had very good workouts at the scouting combine and therefore I have them both going higher than the 14th overall pick in this 2011 NFL Draft. I know that a lot of people think they will go wide receiver or defensive line with this pick but I am going a different route. Mike Pouncey is a beast in the middle and will help both Sam Bradford and Steven Jackson immediately in the 2011 NFL Season.
15. Miami Dolphins: Mark Ingram, RB, ‘Bama
2011 NFL Mock Draft Rank #1 RB
I have previously had the Dolphins taking a QB with this pick in the 2011 NFL Mock Draft. However, I am not sure they are ready to give up on Chad Henne yet so soon into his career. So I give them the top rated RB on my 2011 NFL Mock Draft Big Board. Due to the fact that he has concerns about injury he could potentially fall but in this NFL Mock Draft 2011 version I still have him going to the Dolphins.
16. Jacksonville Jaguars: Aldon Smith, DE, Mizzou
2011 NFL Mock Draft Rank #5 DE
The Jaguars help to improve their defensive line with this pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Aldon Smith kind of scares me and a lot of people are comparing him to Jason Pierre-Paul but he reminds me more of a Aaron Maybin type player. However, I think he is worth the 16th pick in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft due to his tremendous upside .
17. New England Patriots (OAK): Cameron Jordan, DE/DT, Cal
#4 DE- 2011 NFL Mock Draft Rank
The Patriots get a good defensive lineman to help their defense. I had them taking a RB in prior drafts but the way they do running back by committee it doesn’t make sense for them to take a RB this high in the 2011 NFL Draft. So I have them taking Jordan who will be a good fit in their defensive line scheme as a 3-4 Defensive End.
18. San Diego Chargers: JJ Watt, DE, Wisconsin
#6 DE- 2011 NFL Mock Draft Rank
The Chargers hope that Von Miller (2011 NFL Mock Draft #1 OLB) falls to them with the 18th overall pick in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft. However, after this senior bowl and his great combine Von Miller is having and most likely good I have him going a lot higher than the 18th overall pick. So the Chargers have the option to take a 3-4 Defensive end in this Mock Draft or take the best available LB. I have them passing on a pass rusher and getting a proven 3-4 Defensive end with this 2011 NFL Mock Draft pick.
19. NY Giants: Nate Solder, OT, Colorado
2011 NFL Mock Draft Rank #3 OT
I previously had the Giants selecting Mike Pouncey with this pick in the 2011 NFL Mock Draft. However, with this pick I have Mike Pouncey gone so I have them taking a very good pass protecting Tackle in Nate Solder.
20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jimmy Smith, CB, Colorado
2011 NFL Mock Draft Rank #3 CB
The Tampa Buccaneers get a very young talented CB in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft. He has great size and speed. However, the big question mark with this 2011 Draft Pick is Jimmy’s character issues. He has been arrested multiple times and could very well be a top 15 pick talent wise. I see him falling to the Buccaneers who need to get younger in their secondary.
21. KC Chiefs: Akeem Ayers, OLB, UCLA
2011 NFL Mock Draft Rank OLB
The Chiefs get a good player in Akeem Ayers with this pick. I previously did not see Ayers falling this far but he did not run the best 40 yard dash at the NFL Scouting combine. He is still a very good OLB and athlete and if you put on the tape he is definitely worth the 21st overall pick in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft.
22. Indianapolis Colts: Stephen Paea, DT, Oregon St
2011 NFL Mock Draft Rank #3 DT
Indy could go a couple of ways with this pick in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft. I think they could go after a good Offensive linemane such as Mike Pouncey or Gabe Carimi or they could shore up the defensive line. I think Offensive Line is the more pressing need but in their division they play against Maurice Jones Drew and Chris Johnson twice each who are very good runners and the Colts tend to struggle against the run. Paea is a bit of a steal because of his senior bowl injury but all in all is a good value hear and a good fit with the Colts.
