11. Cleveland Browns: Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio St.
The Browns were supposed to be a better team in the 2008 season as well but they have been bad. Brady Quinn looked good in his start but they are going to continue to lose games if they don’t fix the secondary. Malcolm Jenkins is one of the top CB in the 2009 NFL Draft who should be a great addition to this team. The 2009 NFL Season could be a good season if the Browns are able to stop the pass. So look for the Browns to go defense a lot in the 2009 NFL Draft and maybe add a RB for the future.
12. Denver Broncos: Knowshon Moreno, RB, Georgia
The Broncos have a lot of average RB’s that have not been good this year. So I say they go with the powerful and fast Knowshon Moreno. He will add a dimension to their game that they do not have this year. If they can get the ball moving on the ground in the 2009 season and also move the ball through the air like they have been they will be tough to stop. The other thing they need to work on is their secondary which has been next to awful.
13. Miami Dolphins: James Laurinaitis, ILB, Ohio St.
The Dolphins have been great compared to last year especially on the offensive side of the ball. James Laurinaitis will come in and make this team more physical in the middle. He is not an unbelievable athlete but he is a great ILB who is very strong and smart. Look for him to make an immediate impact with an up and rising Dolphins team.
14. GB Packers: Michael Johnson, DE, GT
The Packers have been both good and bad this year. First of all Aaron Rodgers has been very good and he has played up to the level he was expected to. However, Ryan Grant has not been moving on the ground like he did last year and also their defense has looked very banged up. So I have them taking Michael Johnson a speed defensive end to help get some pressure on the QB and help the secondary. The Packers could also help Grant out by going with a Guard or Tackle to help make some holes. The Packers are a young team for the most part and they are going to be very good in the future….watch out for the in the 2009 NFL Season.
15. Indianapolis Colts: Sen’Derrick Marks, DT, Auburn
Once again the colts defense has not been great this year but the problem is neither has their offense. They need a big DT to plug up the middle and stop some of those runs they are getting killed by. Bob Sanders is getting injured every year so they need someone else that is going to help stop the run. Look for Marks to come in and plug up the middle for the Colts giving them a chance to make more plays on the run for the 2009 NFL Season.
16. NO Saints: William Moore, S, Mizzou
The Saints have been magnificent on offense for the most part with Brees on track to beat Marinos passing record. However, their defense is not good at all especially their pass defense. The Saints really need to get someone that is going to scare opposing QB’s and make them run the ball. Moore is a great athlete and a magnificent safety so look for him to maybe even go higher then this if their is a need.
17. Minnesota Vikings: Matt Stafford, QB, Georgia
I don’t know if Stafford will go this high in the 2009 NFL Mock Draft after some so-so showings. I think that he will have to work out well and show Minnesota something special. I think Tebow could also go in this slot because he is a great athlete that is able hand the ball off to Peterson 20 times a game. Look for the Vikings to get someone who is going to lead their offense in the future.
18. Detroit Lions (From Dallas): Greg Hardy, DE, Ole Miss
The Lions gave up Roy Williams so they Get this pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. The Lions really need to continue to build both sides of the ball. So here I have them taking a guy that will help with Run and Pass defense right away. This guy is mostly a speed rusher but if he could put on some weight he would be a great Run End as well. The Lions are still a few years away from being good so this is going to be a pivotal Draft for them.
19. Buffalo Bills: Alex Mack, C, Cal
The Bills have been pretty good this year but they have not developed their running game. They have also been struggling a lot at Center switching players in and out of the position. Look for them to take Alex Mack the top rated center for the 2009 NFL Draft. I have even seen him going as high as 15 in some other 2009 NFL Mock Draft’s. Look for the Bills to get Mack and improve their running game by doing so.
20. NY Jets: Chris Wells, RB, Ohio St.
The Jets are looking pretty good this season so far but their offense hasn’t been great. Thomas Jones and Leon Washington look ok but I think they are going to have to start phasing Jones out in the near future. I think that Wells could go higher depending on how the RB’s are ranked but I like Wells and Moreno about the same. I think that Washington is going to be good for years to come and Wells will complement him well. Thomas Jones may have another good season in him or 2 but Beanie Wells is to good to pass up here.
21. NE Patriots: Victor Harris, CB, VT
The Patriots are not having the season they were expecting but they are still playing pretty good. However, I think they are missing Asante Samuel so they go with the young athletic Victor Harris to come in and make some noise. He is a great athlete and has a lot of potential. Look for him to get some time right away in the 2009 NFL season and make a difference in the secondary.
