2009 NFL Mock Draft: 09/15/08 1-10

1. Atlanta Falcons: Michael Oher, OT, Mississippi

The Falcons could go WR here but they decide to get someone to anchor their offensive line in the 2009 NFL Season.  Look for the Falcons to also look DB since they no longer have Deangelo Hall.  But I like them taking an O-Linemen in my 2009 NFL Mock Draft because it helps both their QB and newly acquired RB.  Look for them to consider trading the pick as well because they need a lot of help to get back to being a playoff team in the 2009 season.

2. Miami Dolphins:  George Selvie, DE/OLB, USF

The Dolphins could go WR here to complement Tedd Ginn in the 2009 season. However, I think they go for the DE George Selvie. Selvie is a very aggressive pass rusher who is looking to go at the top 2009 NFL Draft.  Look for Selvie to go top 5 as I have him placed in this NFL Mock Draft if he plays well this year. Also look for him to be an immediate impact in the 2009 NFL Season.

3. San Francisco 49ers: Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech

Mike Martz is making the 49ers a pass happy team in the 2008 season…or at least he is trying to.  Look for the 49ers to get some help with whoever is at the helm in the 2009 season.  Michael Crabtree is one of my favorite players in the 2009 NFL Mock Draft because he is not the fastest WR but he is big, physical and he can make plays.  Look for Crabtree to get drafted high in the 2009 NFL Draft and then go on to be a great professional football player!

4. Oakland Raiders: Alex Boone, OT, Ohio State

The Oakland Raiders are supposed to have one of the best defenses in the 2008 NFL Season. However, after week 1 there Defense didn’t look that great. However, I am still going to say they should go OT in the 2009 NFL Draft.  They have 2 very Good RB’s in Darren McFadden and Justin Fargas they just don’t have a very solid O-Line to protect them and give them holes to run through. Also I do believe they could go defense in the 2009 NFL Draft but as of now I think Boone is to good to pass on in my 2009 NFL Mock Draft.

5. Kansas City Chiefs: Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio St.

The Chiefs addressed the O-Line in the 2008 NFL Draft. I have them getting younger at corner here to help the pass defense for the 2009 NFL Season.  Jenkins would have quite possibly been the first corner taken in the 2008 NFL Draft if he opted for the Draft but he went back to Ohio state to try for a national championship.  If Albert doesn’t work out at Tackle for the Chiefs look for them to snag an OT here to make their line complete for the 2009 NFL Season.

6. New York Jets: Knowshon Moreno, RB, Georgia

The Jets had a pretty good draft I just don’t see them having a great year in the near future.  I could even see them picking in the top 3 because they just can’t put 2 and 2 together.  In the 2009 NFL Draft the Jets will Take Moreno to help with their aging problem at RB. Moreno is a great RB who runs hard and is similar to LJ and Cadillac with his running style.  The 2009 NFL Draft should give the jets some good players for the future.

7. Detroit Lions: Michael Johnson, DE, GT

The Lions took an OT in the first round of the 2008 NFL draft. Though I think they could use more help with their secondary as well as O-Line I think they need to go with a pass rusher.  Michael Johnson is a top tier pass rusher in the 2009 NFL Draft and he will put pressure on the QB no matter the situation. So in the 2009 NFL draft I think they go with a premier DE in order to help the DB’s.

8. Baltimore Ravens: James Laurinaitis, ILB, Ohio St

The Ravens need to put pressure on the QB and get younger all around.  So I think they go with Laurinaitis in the 2009 NFL Draft.  The Ravens are a very good team but they are continually getting older on their defense.  Laurinaitis is very strong and fast and will be a good fit for the physical Ravens Defense in the 2009 season.  The Ravens also could look into the receiving core as well as the O-Line to help protect their young QB in the 2009 season.  Look for this pick to change a lot because in this 2009 NFL Mock Draft the Ravens are going to take the best available at the time.

9. St. Louis Rams: Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia

The Rams have injury problems with Orlando Pace who may be retiring before the 2009 season.  Eugene is a good Tackle in a very good program.  Look for the Rams to take the best OT available and solidify their line for years to come. Some other options here could be WR and DB’s for the 2009 NFL Season. The Rams struggled so far and they need to build around the run game and protect Bulger so look for them to address the O-Line. Also look for them to probably pick higher in my next 2009 NFL Mock Draft.

10. Chicago Bears: Matt Stafford, QB, Georgia

The Bears are picking here because they don’t have a QB.  They are a pretty good team all around but they need a QB for the 2009 season. Stafford had a very good season and he will most likely be the first QB off the board in the 2009 NFL Draft.  Tim Tebow could also be a choice depending on how he is ranked on their 2009 NFL Draft board.
