2008 NFL Draft Top 10 QB's- 10/28/07

  1. Matt Ryan, Boston College

Height: 6-5. Weight: 218

Matt Ryan had a tough week against Virginia Tech in the first 3 quarters but ended up coming through in the clutch. He showed that he can stay composed throughout an entire game and make the big plays when they are needed. He threw two key touchdowns in the last 2:11 to win 14-10 over Virginia Tech and keep BC undefeated. Look for Ryan to be one of the top QB’s taken in the draft because of his size, arm strength, and pocket presence. I think this guy is the real deal and will most likely be a top 10 pick this year. 1. Andre Woodson, Kentucky

Height: 6-5. Weight: 230

Woodson has jumped up the QB charts and is now wavering between my number 1 and number 2 QB in the draft. This guy much like Ryan is very big which is ideal for an NFL QB. Woodson struggled this past week against Mississippi St. throwing 3 ints with 2 Td’s. This was a tough game for Woodson but he has shown his arm strength and his ability to win games when he led Kentucky to defeat LSU the number 1 team in the country at the time. Woodson is more mobile than Ryan but he tends to hold onto the ball a long time and take some unneeded sacks. To see where I have him projected go to http://newnfldraft.com

  1. Brian Brohm, Louisville

Height: 6-4. Weight: 226

Brohm came into this year being the most talked about QB because of his success in the previous seasons. Brohm continues to be a good QB with a good size frame for the NFL. He has all the abilities to be a good NFL QB but may need a few years in order to be a starter in the NFL. Look for the Falcons to take a long hard look at him because Petrino coached him at Louisville and Brohm could take over and be Petrinos stud once again. So look for him to be a first round pick and maybe even top 5 because of Petrino. To see where I have him projected go to http://newnfldraft.com

  1. Dennis Dixon, Oregon

Height: 6-4. Weight: 200

Dennis Dixon started this year coming off of a bad season where he ended up throwing more interceptions then touchdowns. Dixon this year is doing very well and his touchdowns are leaps and bounds higher then his minimal 3 interceptions. Look for Dixon to make a surge into the first round if he continues to play so well and utilize his abilities. Many people are comparing him to Vince Young because of his ability to throw and make plays on the ground as well. People may be skeptical about taking Dixon because of his weaker arm strength, but what he can’t do in the air he has been able to make up on the ground. The big question is whether or not he can bring these abilities into the NFL. To see where I have him projected go to http://newnfldraft.com

  1. Erik Ainge, Tennessee

Height: 6-6. Weight: 220

Erik Ainge has been a consistently good QB the last and so far this year for Tennessee. Ainge broke his pinkie last year and showed his toughness by playing and still throwing for 3 touchdowns. So far this year he has thrown for 14 touchdowns and only 5 interceptions. His most recent accomplishment was leading his team over a very good South Carolina team bye throwing 1 touchdown and 1 interception with 216 yards passing.

  1. John David Booty, USC

Height: 6-3. Weight: 215

John David Booty had a promising year as a Junior replacing Matt Leinart. Booty threw 29 touchdowns and 9 interceptions his first year as a starter. This year Booty has gone through some hard times throwing 4 interceptions against Stanford leading his team to a loss. Along with being injured for last 3 weeks he also has thrown 8 interceptions to his 12 touchdowns. I personally like John David Booty and think that he has a future in the NFL and is going to be a good QB. Look for him to go 3rd round and later. He has had a tough season so look for him to be a later pick in the draft but whoever gets him is going to get a good player.

  1. Colt Brennan, Hawaii

Height: 6-3. Weight: 196

Colt Brennan continues to put up mind boggling stats this year with 26 touchdowns already. His most recent game he threw for 425 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 1 interception. The question about Brennan is that he plays against teams that aren’t necessarily good and his team throws the ball more than anyone in football. So is he just part of the system or is he a good QB……. That is the question that NFL teams are going to be asking themselves before they take Brennan. This guy is a real question mark to me, I have no idea really where he will go but I assume in the top 4 rounds because QB is a big need in the draft this year.

  1. Chad Henne, Michigan

Height: 6-2. Weight: 226

Henne hasn’t really lived up to the season he needed to make his team a National Championship contender. He has also shown to be prone to injuries already missing three games this year which is not going to help his chances of going high in the NFL either. He is playing so-so this year and still should be drafted but look for him to go 4th round or later.

  1. Sam Keller, Nebraska

Height: 6-4. Weight: 230

Sam Keller has been on and off from week to week. This guy has thrown way to many interceptions to be one of the top QB’s in the draft. Keller will have to start being more careful with the ball and making better decisions if he wants to be drafted. As of now I have him going 5th round or later because his inability to make good decisions and not throw interceptions. However, he does have a very good frame for the NFL and has a good QB rating at 133.7.

  1. Anthony Morelli

Height: 6-4. Weight: 235

Anthony Morelli is a very hot and cold QB because of his arm strength. Morelli has a cannon and is able to throw the deep ball very well and make something happen. The bad thing about Morelli is that he doesn’t always make the right reads and tends to throw a lot of interceptions. He is having a pretty good year throwing for 13 touchdowns and 8 interceptions leading his team to 6 victories. Look for this guy to go in the later part of the second day because of his poor decision making skills. However, because of his powerful arm I think he could be a good pick up in the draft as a backup or even a future starter down the road.
