Tyler’s 2012 NFL Mock Draft | Round 5 and 6

2012 NFL Mock Draft Round 5

1. Colts-Vontaze Burfict, LB, Arizona St.-The Colts will do anything to return to prominence. Burfict fell flat at the combine. He was overweight, showed immaturity, and played poorly. On tape he is very competive and can be a difference maker. This is a team that still has veteran leadership and Burfict will be groomed to be the centerpiece of the D down the road.

2. Denver-Marcus Forston, DT, Miami-Denver has its NT replacement, but will still need to draft a UT who can get to the QB. Forston has all the potential to be great, but has had injury concerns. He’s a steal this far down.

3. Minnesota-Tank Carder, ILB, TCU-Minnesota may have a massive hole in the middle of their LB’s. Carder is smart and ultra aggressive. He plays the run soundly and covers well.

4. Cleveland-Brandon Hardin, FS, Oregon St.-Hardin is one of the most talented FS’s in the draft but has injury concerns. His shoulder is still recovering but should be ready for the opener. He is extremely fast, covers like a blanket, and can put a hit on the ball carrier.

5. Tampa Bay-Evan Rodriguez, FB/TE, Temple-Tampa will need a lead blocker who can come out of the backfield to protect their RB’s. Rodriguez is versatile, he can slide to TE or take over for Winslow should something happen.

6. Washington-Micheal Egnew, TE, Missouri-Even with Davis returning, the Skins could use some help at TE. Egnew is a huge target. He is strictly a receiving TE until he betters his blocking skills.

7. Jacksonville-Danny Coale, WR, Va Tech-Coale is a highly productive receiver. He has speed, but attacks the ball like a possession receiver. He has versatility and can also punt, making him another weapon for Mularky.

8. Carolina-Joe Adams, WR, Alabama-Adams is a weapon that shouldn’t be passed on here. He has put on poor performances at his pro day and combine. On tape, he is untouchable, both down the field and in the return game. With such a wide open offense, Smith, Blackmon, and Adams will make the passing game one of the best ever.

9. Buffalo-Ryan Lindley, QB, San Diego St.-Lindley has prototypical size. He is very mobile with a strong, accurate arm. The Bills need a QB developing behind Fitzpatrick.

10. Miami-Jacquies Smith, DE, Missouri-Miami still needs a pass rusher opposite of Wake. Smith doesn’t have the ability of Aldon Smith, but still excels at getting to the QB with a high motor.

11. Kansas City-Matt Reynolds, T/G, BYU-Reynolds is a backup for every position other than center. He comes from a football family and has great size and strength.

12. Buffalo-Josh Kaddu, LB, Oregon-With the addition of David, Buffalo has their 3 starters. There isn’t much behind them and Kaddu can play multiple positions.

13. Oakland-Quenton Saulisberry, C, Mississippi St.-Saulisberry is swift on his feet and keeps his head a swivel. He will be a great fit at G or C for Oakland.

14. San Diego-Marvin Jones, WR, Cal-Jones has the height and speed to very productive. He runs routes extremely well with soft hands.

15. Chicago-Terrell Manning, LB, NC St.-Manning can play either weak or strongside. He is very explosive and is a brain jarring hitter. He tends to miss some tackles and takes poor angles, but that can be coached.

16. Arizona-Kyle Wilbur, LB, Vanderbilt-Schofield may not be the answer across from Acho. Wilbur is a great pass rusher who can provide depth or push Schofield for the job.

17. Dallas-Ryan Broyles, WR, Oklahoma-After losing Robinson, Dallas will need another speed threat on the outside. Broyles is getting over injury but is still a very productive receiver who can also help in the return game.

18. Philadelphia-Will Blackwell, G/C, LSU-Blackwell is a large framed, flexible lineman that Reid covets. He is a sound C and can replace Jackson.

19. NY Jets-Don Stephenson, T, Oklahoma-Stephenson displayed the strength, footwork, and power to be a RT in the NFL. Ducasse was not able to unseat the poor Hunter, Stephenson will push Decasse to G and leave Hunter as a backup.

20. Tennessee-Emmanuel Acho, LB, Texas-Tennessee is in dire need of a WLB. Acho is fast with sound tackling skills.

21. Cincinnati-Danny Trevathan, LB, Kentucky-Trevathan is a tackling machine with above average range. He will challenge for a starting spot or provide backup and help in special teams.

22. Atlanta-Levy Adcock, T, Oklahoma St.-Adcock was once a first round lock. He has been shifted around and his weaknesses have been exposed. He could be a bigger better option than Baker if he can prove his talent. If not he can push Hawley for the starting spot at G.

23. Detroit-Ryan Steed, CB, Furman-Steed is the top player left. He is a small school corner with great coverage skills. He had decent workouts and will make an excellent option in nickel coverage.

24. Pittsburgh-Robert Turbin, RB, Utah St.-Mendenhall may not be ready and is a free agent. Moore hasn’t been resigned, Clay and Redman can’t carry the load. Turbin is a Mendenhall type back. He receives and blocks well plus has elusiveness and speed.

25. Denver-Dwight Jones, WR, N. Carolina- Denver will need another solid receiver. They went to N. Carolina’s pro day and left impressed with Jones. Jones has all the tangibles but makes poor decisions and lacks intelligence.

26. Houston-Trevin Wade, CB, Arizona-Wade is a physical cover corner. He plays the ball well.

27. New Orleans-Tommy Streeter, WR, Miami-Streeter is a special talent. He is very tall and lanky with exceptional speed. He is so raw that most teams won’t touch him. With his intangibles, this coaching staff will find a spot for him.

28. Green Bay-Nick Foles, QB, Arizona-With Flynn gone, the Pack will look to develop another QB. Foles is a systematic QB with a great arm. He just needs to work on his delivery and accuracy.

29. Baltimore-Garth Gerhart, C/G, Arizona St.-Birk is in the twilight of his career. Gerhart is a smart center with a mean streak. He reads defenses well, makes minimal mistakes, but needs to work on his strength and add some pounds.

30. San Francisco-Trenton Robinson, FS, MIchigan St.-A mid round prospect, Robinson has a small frame but excellent coverage skills.

31. Cincinnati-Ladarius Green, TE, La-Lafeyette-Green is a great receiving TE with little to no blocking skills. He can be a dangerous weapon, especially lined up in the H back position. If Gresham goes down, Cincy has no play making options behind him. Lee doesn’t have near the potential of Green.

32. New York Giants-Jarius Wright, WR, Arkansas-Wright has underappreciated receiving skills combined with blazing speed. He needs to work on his route running skills but will be a viable option behind Cruz and Hicks.

33. Oakland(comp)-Kevin Kroger, TE, Michigan-Oakland needs a balanced TE who can bail out Palmer. Kroger is a sleeper who blocks well with sure hands.

34. Baltimore(comp)-Jerry Franklin, ILB, Arkansas-Franklin is a sleeper. He does nothing to vault him into high rounds, but on tape he is versatile and never out of position. He can drop into coverage and is a sound tackler in space.

35. Indianapolis(comp)-Trevor Guyton, DE, Cal-Guyton can play the 5 technique. He will be a great pass rusher and player if he can add NFL type strength.
