Tyler’s 2012 NFL Mock Draft | Round 3

1. Colts-Alameda Ta’Amu, NT, Washington-The Colts will need to fill as many holes on the defense as possible. With the 34 D coming to town, they will need a NT. Ta’Amu is a power NT with decent mobility.

2. St. Louis-Jeff Allen, G, Illinois-With Smith resigned, it looks like the Rams line is set minus a left guard. Allen is shooting up draft boards with his smooth technique and great footwork.

3. Minnesota-Brandon Brooks, G, Miami(OH)-Brooks is sliding up boards, displaying natural knee bend and great blocking separation skills. Minnesota will need to develop a line in front of Ponder for future success.

4. Cleveland-Brandon Weeden, QB, Oklahoma St.-If Weeden can last this long, Cleveland won’t pass on him to compete with McCoy. Weeden is highly accurate but hasn’t looked well under center in drills.

5. Tampa Bay-Ron Brooks, CB, LSU-Tampa will take a corner from LSU, just not Claiborne. Brooks is a solid corner who has been outshined by the likes of Claiborne, Peterson, and Mathieau. He has the speed and is a sound tackler, but will need a year behind Barber to improve his coverage skills.

6. Washington-James Brown, G/T, Troy-Washington needs to provide RG3 with protection. LG and RT are both holes that may need to be filled due to injuries. Brown will be phenomenal in the zone scheme. He is very mobile and powerful and won’t miss blocks.

7. Jacksonville-Vick Ballard, RB, Miss. St-Jones-Drew is racking up the miles on his tires. Ballard is the short yardage back that the team needs. Ballard is very powerful and hits the holes aggressively. He has sound hands and can catch the ball when needed.

8. Buffalo-Zach Brown, LB, N. Carolina-Brown is a speedster LB with sure tackling skills. He will a huge piece to the young and improving Bills D.

9. Miami-Brandon Washington, G, Miami-Washington is a versatile G. He played some left tackle and will be a very sound LG. He has the power and blocking skills to be a RG as well.

10. Miami-Juron Criner, WR, Arizona St.-Criner has an excellent vertical and huge hands. He has a gift for bailing out young QB’s.

11. Kansas City-Antonio Allen, SS, S. Carolina-Berry can play FS while Allen mans the SS spot. Allen is very sound and skilled. He works best in zone, but can turn and run with slot receiver and big enough to cover TE’s.

12. Seattle-Trumaine Johnson, CB, Montana-Johnson fits the Seattle system well. He is very tall with good strength. He lacks in flipping his hips, but has the ability to keep with the receiver and play the ball. FS is also an option for Johnson as he hits well.

13. Houston-Mike Martin, NT, Michigan-Martin is an ideal player at NT in Wade Phillips defense. Martin ties up the line and has the capability of bursting through to get to the QB.

14. NY Jets-Chris Polk, RB, Washington-The Jets need to upgrade the run game. Greene is a talented power back but hasn’t shown much in the way of getting bigger plays. Polk is a three down back with speed. He catches well out of the backfield but has the power to hit the line in short yardage situations.

15. Oakland-Forfiet
