Jason’s 2012 NFL Mock Draft | 6-10

6.       Washignton Redskins: Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma St

The are rumblings that the Rams could go Fletcher Cox here and he is a guy that will probably rise in the top 10-12 but you have a chance to get the best WR in the draft and give your young QB a great weapon.  Just like I said with Schiano, Fisher is more of a trenches kind of guy but Blackmon could completely reshape the offense.  There will be some good DT’s available in Round 2, where the Rams have 2 early picks.  I actually think Blackmon is UNDERRATED based on a lot of chatter out there.  He might not end up with a rookie year like Boldin but overall, I think he will have the better career.  Boldin seems to be the most common comparison.

7.       Jacksonville Jaguars: Chandler Jones, DE, Syracuse

I am going to bite on the latest news that Jones is flying up the charts.  Mayock named him the top defender in the draft.  Now, I am not sure about that but Jones would be a great bookend on the opposite side of Mincey.  There are always a D-Lineman or two that fly up the board within a day or two of draft day.  Jones is that guy this year.  Let’s hope for Jags’ fans, that he’s not this year’s Dewayne Robertson.

8.       Miami Dolphins: Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M

I would probably look at Floyd here but I am trying to guess where players go not where they should go.  Signing Naanee is not a real answer to losing Marshall but the pressure to get a young QB for Philbin to develop is just too great.  They, like a lot of other teams, could look to catch a WR in round 2, where you could see them flying off the board to teams like Indianapolis, Minnesota, Cleveland, Jacksonville, etc. Tannehill is raw enough where the jury is still out on him but if given time to develop, it could be a great situation.  I think Matt Moore is serviceable in the near term.

9.       Carolina Panthers: Fletcher Cox, DT, Miss State

The Panthers have to get better along the defensive line if they want to compete.  They were awful against the run and not that great against the pass where they were 25th in sacks.  Cox is a fast-riser but has the most talent and consistency of the DT’s.  They could look at another fast-rising player in Gilmore but if you’re Rivera, you know a stout D-Line is how you build a defense.

10.       Buffalo Bills: Riley Reiff, DT, LSU

The Brockers situation reminds me a bit of when Albert Haynesworth came out.  They are about the same size and if they hit on their potential, they could be monsters.  I am not comparing their abilities to mentally cut it in the NFL, just that Haynesworth was not a proven player and his teammate John Henderson went earlier as more of a proven commodity.  Getting some size on the D-line and lining Brockers up at the 3 will immediately sure up a rush defense that was 26th against the run.
