2012 NFL Mock Draft 1st Cornerback

08/20/2011: In the NFL today teams are getting more and more pass happy with Quarterbacks like Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Tom Brady and Sam Bradford in the NFL slinging the ball a ton. So teams like the Jets and the Eagles have shows that a CB is one of the most important positions in the NFL. With a good duo of CB’s on an NFL team you are able to blitz the Quarterback more as well shut down top tier wide receivers. In the 2011 NFL Draft Patrick Peterson was the top rated CB and a top 5 pick in the Draft because he was fast and big so he had the ability to play multiple positions in the NFL such as Safety and CB.

In the 2012 NFL Draft Dre Kirkpatrick is the top rated CB and a very good one in that. The thing about Dre Kirkpatrick that makes him the top rated CB for me, in my 2012 NFL Mock Draft, is that he not only has the instincts but he is 6’3” which is great size for a Cornerback. Another Cornerback in the NFL with size like this is Antonio Cromartie. However, Cromartie isn’t as big as Kirkpatrick and also doesn’t have the top end speed that Kirkpatrick has. With this size and speed combo I think that Dre Kirkpatrick will be a top 10 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. I think some potential landing spots for him would be the Panthers, Broncos, Titans or Browns.
