2012 NFL Mock Draft Updated on 04/26/2012

1.       Indianapolis Colts: Andrew Luck, QB-Stanford

Regardless of RG3’s hype, when choosing between a prospect that’s been the consensus 1st overall pick and a player who had a mid-to-late first grade until Barkley and Jones decided to go back to school, you pick the former. Luck’s Newton esque combine results only furthered him as a pro-ready quarterback.

2.       Washington Redskins via STL: Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor

This isn’t a debatable selection. The Redskins did not sell the farm to select Kalil or Blackmon or anyone else. Although I believe that Griffin will always have a Vick impact on a game, I do think Newton’s rookie season will seem less impressive after RG3’s season.

3.       Minnesota Vikings: Matt Kalil, OT-USC

Ponder’s promise is going to come to fruition next season. With a game changer in Peterson, and his blindside now protected for the next 10 seasons with this selection, Ponder will have a great sophomore year.

4.       Cleveland Browns:  Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma St

I believe Mike Holmgren is smarter then reaching for Tannehill. He will give Colt McCoy one last shot this year, with a real weapon in Blackmon.  With running backs becoming a dime a dozen I think they will hold off and see what a (hopefully) healthy Montario Hardesty can do.

5.       Tampa Bay Buccaneers:  Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU

Cornerback is the biggest position of need, with Barber’s imminent retirement and Aqib Talib’s imminent jail time. With Patrick Petersen lighting up the league this year it only raises his value. His apparent 4 on the Wonderlic will not scare off the Bucs. See Talib, Aqib and Blount, LaGarette.
