22. Jacksonville Jags: D. Heyward-Bey, WR, MD
The Jags have struggled so far in the 2008 NFL Season. So if they continue to play like this and not win games then they will be picking higher in the 2009 NFL Draft. Right now the Jags O-Line is injured and struggling to move the ball and protect Garrard like they have in the past. With all of these problems I still think the Jags need to take a WR and Bey is a very good WR out of MD. I think that he is one of the top WR In the 2009 NFL Draft. So as of now I have them taking a WR in my 2009 NFL Mock Draft….I might have them picking earlier with an OT if they continue to struggle with the Run in the rest of the 2008 season.
23. Tennessee Titans: Greg Hardy, DE, Ole Miss
I am not sure what the Titans are going to do in this situation for the 2009 season. So far their defense has been dominate and they have run the ball very well. So where do you go…I think WR but Jeff Fisher doesn’t like to take WR’s in the first round it seems to me. So I think they help prove an already great defense by taking Greg Hardy who will replace Kearse and be the next freak in Tennessee. I also think the Titans could look at LB as well because Bullock is getting older and for the 2009 season they may need some more help.
24. NE Patriots: James Laurinaitis, ILB, OSU
Mike Vrabel is going to be gone probably by the 2009 NFL Season so I think the Patriots need to address that. I know they took a LB last year in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft but I think they need to continue building this position. So I think that the Hood decides to take the best LB available when they pick to help secure a strong defense for the 2009 NFL Season and years to come.
25. Ind. Colts: Geno Atkins, DT, GA
The Colts have never been great against the run especially when Bob Sanders is out. So I think the Colts take a DT hear to help plug up the middle and make their Defensive line younger. The Colts have struggled a little bit with both offense and defense this year so far so I think they help secure their defense with the first pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. Also I think they could look at their O-Line because they have had some problems with the pass and run protection.
26. GB Packers: Evander Hood, DT, Mizz
The Packers took Justin Harrell a couple years back but he is injured all the time. So I think the Packers need to address this problem and they do so by taking Evander Hood the big guy out of Mizzou. GB also may want to boost their LB crew as well with this pick so they could go a couple ways in the 2009 NFL Draft. With this mock draft I have them going Defense and I think they may even finish picking later because they are playing very good.
27. Philly Eagles: Alex Boone, OT, OSU
The Eagles have been doing pretty good so far in the 2008 NFL Season. I think that they need to secure their offensive line because they look good in most other facets of the game. I think that Boone might be a little Raw but he could step in and be successful at RT in his first season. As long as he is in good shape and understands the screen offense of the Eagles he will be a good fit for the 2009 NFL Season. Also look for them maybe to go with another WR because Jackson looked good but they have had lots of WR issues this year so far.
28. NY Giants: Brian Orakpo DE/OLB, UT
The NY Giants lost Osi for the 2008 season and they have actually looked pretty good so far. They can never have to many DE’s because that is pretty much the extent of their defense and Orakpo is also able to play LB like Kiwanuka does. So I think they may go this route to help with the pass rush and keep the great defense they have had in the past.
29. New Orleans Saints: William Moore, S, Mizz.
I don’t know why but I like the Saints a lot this season and I think they have what it takes to be successful this year. In this 2009 NFL Mock Draft I have them boosting the secondary by adding a very smart safety that can monitor the field and help with the passing game. Moore is a top tier safety and he should play immediately in some of the pass defense packages and help the Saints in the 2009 NFL Season.
30. SD Chargers: Brian Cushing, OLB, USC
Merriman may not be what he was before the surgery so I have the Chargers covering their back here. Cushing is a very athletic LB who will fit in well with the Chargers blitzing scheme they use. I also think that they may look to improve the offense by adding a playmaker at WR or an OT. So look for this pick to waver in the future of my 2009 NFL Mock Drafts.
31. Pitt Steelers: Alex Mack, C, Cal
The Steelers and Willie Parker have looked very good this season so far. They are starting a C they acquired in the offseason but Alex Mack is a great C and he could even play guard which was a loss in the offseason. So look for the Stillers to take the best interior O-Linemen here and boost their run and pass blocking game for the 2009 NFL Season. Also they could look to boost their defense for the future as well.
32. Dallas Cowboys: Kam Chancellor, SS, Va Tech
I think Roy Williams is a great hitter and very strong athlete. The problem is he is awful in pass coverage so with this move I think they move Roy Williams up to play LB and put Chancellor at the strong safety position. Last Night I was watching the Cowboys-Eagles game and they both need help with their pass coverage for the 2009 NFL Season. So with this pick I have the Cowboys boosting their Defense and making them an even stronger team then they already are.
