2009 NFL Mock Draft – 7 Rounds!

Final Mock Draft!, 2009- Draft Grades Coming Soon!

1. Detroit Lions: Matt Stafford, QB, Georgia

I have gone back and forth about this pick and I am not sure what they are going to do here but right now it seems as though they need a QB very badly.  The reason I think they need to take a QB here is because with their 2nd pick their might not be any left but they may still be able to get a very good OT with their second pick in this 2009 NFL Mock Draft.

2. St. Louis Rams: Jason Smith, OT, Baylor

The Rams really need a great offensive Tackle to Anchor their O-line and replace the great Orlando Pace for the 2009 NFL Season. I have been going back and forth between Jason Smith and Monroe lately. But since Smith is now the first overall pick I think the Rams get Monroe to help protect Bulger.

3. KC Chiefs: Aaron Curry, OLB, WF

The Chiefs just fired Herm Edwards and it looks like they now settled with a coach.  I think that in the 2009 NFL Draft Haley will lean toward getting a signal caller. However, after the combine and everything we know about Curry I think it will be tough to pass on him.  He is a workout warrior like Vernon Gholston but he doesn’t take plays off.

4. Seattle Seahawks: Mark Sanchez, QB, USC

Seattle has struggled this past year and a lot of it was due to a poor offensive line and lack of talent at the WR position. However, I don’t think Hasselback is getting any younger and Sanchez is looking to be a great prospect. I think if Sanchez sits for a year or 2 I think he will be a great NFL player.

5. Cleveland Browns: Brian Orakpo, DE/OLB, UT

The Browns have backed off on their talks of trading away Edwards for the time being. So for now I see them taking Orakpo here and building their defense.

6. Cincinnati Bengals: Michael Crabtree, WR, TTU

The Bengals could go one of many ways here but with them losing TJ Housh they need someone to play opposite Ocho Cinco. So I have them taking a great play maker here in the 2009 NFL Mock Draft.

7. Oakland Raiders: Jeremy Maclin, WR, Mizzou

The Raiders could go offensive line here especially with Monroe still on the board in this 2009 NFL Mock Draft. However, that would not be a fun pick especially for the Raiders Head Hancho so they go for the speedy wide receiver in Jeremy Maclin. They took a RB last year and a QB the year before so might as well take another skilled position here in this 2009 NFL Mock Draft.

8. Jacksonville Jaguars: Eugene Monroe, OT, UVA

The Jaguars just acquired Torry Holt and actually gave him a pretty sizeable contract. So they are able to go WR with one of their later picks and focus on the offensive line with this pick. In this 2009 NFL Mock Draft I have Eugene Monroe falling a little to the Jags and they are Ecstatic to get such a polished OT here.  Another option here if they don’t get the player they want would be to trade down especially if Maclin, Crabtree, Orakpo, Maybin and Sanchez were on the board. All of these guys could have someone want them bad enough to trade up for them especially if Mark Sanchez fell to here.

9. Green Bay Packers: B.J. Raji, DT, BC

The Packers have tried to get a DT in the past drafts but weren’t successful.  So I have them taking a very good DT here who can be a difference maker in both the pass and the rush in the 2009 season.

10. San Francisco 49ers: Aaron Maybin, DE/LB, PSU

The 49ers get a player that can both play DE and Rush LB which could help the 49ers immediately. I could also see them going CB or OLB with this pick as well.

11. Buffalo Bills: Andre Smith, OT, ‘Bama

The Bills get a very good OT here in the 2009 NFL Draft. They could do one of a couple things with Smith here they could put him at right tackle or they could try to play him at LT as well. He is a very big aggressive tackle here.

12. Denver Broncos: Rey Maualuga, ILB, USC

Ok everyone is telling me that the Broncos are going defense with their first overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. In this 2009 NFL Mock Draft I believe that they will go defense but I wouldn’t be surprised if they went after one of the top RB’s in the 2009 NFL Mock Draft.
