Darren McFadden: 2008 NFL Draft Updates

Darren McFadden last year was a top runner for the Heisman Trophy and one of the elite Running Backs in the college game. It was predicted that if McFadden entered the draft last year that he would have been taken before Sooners Adrian Peterson. McFadden is known to have better hands and be more durable then the oft injured Peterson was.  In 2005 and 2006 McFadden has combined for 2,733 yards, 25 td’s and in 2006 he had a 5.9 yards per carry average. So far this year McFadden has 779 rush yards, 7 touchdowns and 6.0 yards per carry. If he continues these stats he is projected to nearly 1900 yards and 17 touchdowns.  McFadden has the frame and speed to make it in the NFL at 6’2″ and 215 lbs.  So far it seems like the Dallas Cowboys and the New Orleans Saints are the top runners for McFadden in the 2008 NFL Draft.  The Cowboys aren’t using Julius Jones as much as Marion Barber III and they will be looking for someone to come in and take over for Jones as the leading rusher.  In the Saints situation they have a very athletic back in Reggie Bush but Deuce Mcalister has been injured often and not as productive as he once was.
